I have a book I’ve been working on for a bit longer than 7 years. I’ve also been waiting for “someday,” but with each passing year (heck, each passing day) it’s becoming clear someday will never come unless I decide it already has.

I think more than anything, I suffer the same fear that all writers face (surely you have too): that the books I write will never be as good as I imagine they should be, and that I shouldn’t start until I’ve built up some abstract self-qualification that I’m finally “ready.” We’re never ready though, are we? We just need to do. Cast the perfectionist aside.

Life’s a mess. Risk is necessary.
